I just had the best time watching the bowl games this year. I’m usually at a game (other than the Gator Bowl) but with the Jaguars run at the playoffs, I’ve been in town. So I’ve been in front of my television like everybody else. A playoff would be better, but for sheer entertainment value, this bowl season is way up there on the list.

The Peach Bowl was interesting, if only to watch in amazement how Miami unraveled throughout the game. LSU is a good club, but Miami stopped competing somewhere in the middle of the second quarter.

The Sugar Bowl was amazing from the start. West Virginia came in with a chip on their shoulder and hammered Georgia early and often, jumping out to a 28-0 lead. But the ‘Dogs got their act together and made it very entertaining. I was very impressed with how UWV kept slugging it out every time Georgia did something good. And the fake punt with a minute to play was a gutsy, great call to win the game.

I stuck around and watched all three overtimes of the Orange Bowl. It was actually pretty funny to watch the kickers knock it all over the place. Once Penn State won the game, I thought Bobby Bowden had the best quote. "Kickers are going to miss. Sometimes they’re just going to miss at the wrong time.”

And the Rose Bowl was everything it was cracked up to be. Vince Young looked like Superman. He had a lot to say before the game and backed it up. Southern Cal’s defense was horrific in the second half. Particularly in the fourth quarter. And they came up a couple of inches short on fourth down that would have sealed the win.

Texas won the National Championship behind Young’s legs and they flat out won it. Talk about an instant classic!
